Experience Blue Ridge
Blue Ridge is a North Georgia mountain town at the edge of the Chattahoochee National Forest. Its small downtown has shops, galleries and restaurants, craft breweries and wineries are part of the county’s draw, and the forest around it holds some 300 miles of hiking trails and 100 miles of trout streams.
Mountain Haus sits on Cherry Log Mountain, about 15 minutes’ drive from downtown.

Blue Ridge Scenic Railway
Trains leave the historic depot downtown for a 26-mile round trip along the Toccoa River to McCaysville, Georgia, and Copperhill, Tennessee. Trips run year-round on seasonal schedules.

Shops, galleries and restaurants along Main Street, with craft breweries and wineries around the county.

Trails and waterfalls
The county counts 16 waterfalls within an hour of town. The Appalachian Trail and the Benton MacKaye Trail both begin at Springer Mountain, a regional day trip, and the Benton MacKaye passes a four-minute walk from Mountain Haus.

Paddleboard, rent a pontoon or spend an afternoon on the shore at Lake Blue Ridge and the Morganton Point Recreation Area.

Tubing, kayaking and rafting trips run on the Toccoa, and the area’s trout water draws anglers.

The Lake
Lake Sinclair
Lake Sinclair is a Georgia Power reservoir of 15,300 acres, with winding coves, long stretches of open water and more than 500 miles of shoreline, about two hours southeast of Atlanta. It is a lake for boating, fishing and swimming, and marinas around it rent boats.
Lake Haus is here, in central Georgia, a separate trip from the Blue Ridge mountains.

Founded in 1803, Milledgeville served as Georgia’s capital during the Civil War. Today it has historic house museums and tours, and a college-town downtown of local shops and restaurants.

About 35 to 40 minutes by car
The farm where the author Flannery O’Connor lived from 1951 to 1964, now cared for by Georgia College and open for tours on set days.
