Three bedrooms sleep six. The primary has a queen bed and a peek-a-boo water view; two more bedrooms handle the rest of the group. One full bathroom serves the house, which keeps it best suited to a family or a group that knows each other well.

The yard is where it earns its keep: a plunge pool open year round, a fire pit, a fully fenced private backyard and a gas grill. Bikes, beach chairs, towels and an umbrella are all provided, and the Gulf is a walk away.

This is the quieter side of the Gulf coast — a residential street on the barrier island, a short stroll to the sand, and a cottage built for the kind of week where nobody checks a schedule. Days run from the plunge pool to the beach and back, and end around the fire pit.
